Enrych Oxfordshire and Enrych Buckinghamshire had a lovely coach trip to Woburn Safari Park today, despite braving sweltering heats of over 30 degrees! We were joined on the trip by some staff and members of My Life My Choice, which is a self-advocacy organisation for adults with a learning disability and it was great to have them along with us.
After arriving at Woburn, we kicked things off with a safari on the coach, with our very own park tour guide. She introduced us to all of the wonderful animals on show and shared bits with us about all of their colourful personalities and habits, including grouchy lions, mischievous rhinos and monkeys, playful but car-damaging bear cubs, bad parenting Ostriches that keep losing their eggs and many more from each section of the park. It was really interesting learning all about the animals, as well as the challenges they face with ensuring that park visitors don't endanger the animals or themselves by not following rules about feeding animals or exiting their cars. We followed this up with a great bit of lunch at the restaurant and a wander around the park looking at everything from penguins, otters and sealions to lemurs and meerkats. We did our best to keep cool in the unusually warm weather and drank plenty of water to make sure we all arrived home safe and well. All in all it was a grand day out!
